Dr. David M. Kayne M.D.
Dr Kayne is a board certified internist who has been practicing medicine for more than 18 years. Specializing in diabetes and devoted to the care and treatment of people with diabetes, he has been dedicated to optimizing diabetes management with the latest technological advances including continuous glucose sensors and insulin pumps.
Dr Kayne has extensive clinical trial experience and over the past 18 years has conducted studies related to technological development of glucose sensors and carbohydrate calculators. In addition, he has been deeply involved in diabetic pharmacologic research that has contributed to the approval of well-known medications such as Amaryl, Glumetza, Byetta, Humaolg, Epidra, and Lantus insulin. Presently, he is performing studies pertaining to the development of long acting Byetta and insulin patch pumps.
Dr Kayne recently received the Center of Excellence award from Medtronic Minimed for his diligent dedication to insulin pump therapy and glucose sensor technology. In 2004 he received the Shirley Kayne Community Service award from the American Diabetes Association for his commitment to helping people in the community affected by diabetes. From 2000 to 2002 he served as the youngest Chief of Staff at Encino-Tarzana Medical Center and is presently the Chairman of the Diabetes Committee for Providence Tarzana Hospital.
Dr. Kayne is a long-time supporter of the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI), headquartered in Miami, Florida, where he served on it’s board for its golf tournament fund raiser. David was a founding member of the Board of Directors for the American Diabetes Association, San Fernando Valley chapter from 1998 to 2005.
His educational career began at Occidental College where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1982. He went on to University of Southern California (USC) Medical School graduating in 1986. His post-graduate training in Internal Medicine took place at the UCLA Veterans Administration (VA) in West Los Angeles. He served an additional year at the VA as Chief Medicine Resident. David resides in West Hills, California with his wife and five children.
